FINDING A NEW ENDOCRINOLOGIST
Our office is not providing referrals or recommending a specific endocrinologist. Patients should contact their Primary Care Provider (PCP) or insurance company for assistance in finding a new endocrinologist who participates with their insurance plan and is accepting new patients.
REFERRALS & DIAGNOSIS CODES
Dr. Saberinia’s office does not issue referrals. If a new physician, specialist, or medical facility requires a referral and/or diagnosis (ICD-10) code before scheduling an appointment, the referral must be obtained through the patient’s Primary Care Provider (PCP) or insurance company, as applicable. Relevant diagnoses and diagnosis codes are documented in the patient’s medical records as part of the Assessment and Plan, when applicable. Our office can provide the patient’s medical records upon receipt of a properly completed medical records release request; however, we will not issue a separate referral.
MEDICAL RECORDS
Patients who need their medical records sent to themselves or to a new provider should submit a completed Authorization for Release of Medical Records to our office. Please allow adequate time to process your records request.

What is an Endocrinologist?

Your primary care doctor refers you to an endocrinologist when you have a problem with your endocrine system.
What is Type 1 Diabetes?
Diabetes is a disease that is characterized by too much glucose (sugar) in the bloodstream. It occurs when the pancreas, a gland behind the stomach, does not produce enough insulin. In type 1 diabetes, the body cannot make insulin.

What is Insulin?
Insulin is produced by special cells in the pancreas, a large organ located behind the stomach. Insulin helps the body use and store glucose (sugar), which is produced during the digestion of food. Insulin is secreted into the blood at each meal and allows the body to use glucose as energy to fuel basic daily functions like moving and breathing.
